Construction begins

The construction is under way.  The deck has been built.   The two side walls are framed and waiting for the third, longer wall to be framed.  The weather put a damper on things today but the walls should be up by tomorrow.  On Friday the main trusses will be delivered and if all goes well, Monday they will be put up as well.  Everything is covered for now to keep it all dry.

You never really know what you are going to find .  Yesterday when the main beam running down the side of the house was exposed, we could see that it wasn't in very good shape.  The entire thing will have to be replaced in two halves.  This is good in a way because now they will be able to match up the ceiling heights between the old and new structures.  We will also feel better about the support that the new structure will have.  According to our contractor, this shouldn't be a big deal.  Again, the house is almost 200 years old so these things are to be expected.
